The Motorola Droid X is the best Android smartphone yet. This is a comparison of the Motorola Droid X (Verizon) with the Apple iPhone 4 (AT&T).
Display – iPhone 4 wins
The iPhone 4 sports a new 3.5 inch retina display with a resolution of 640 x 960 pixels. It is one of the best mobile displays ever. The Droid X, on the other hand, sports a 4.3 inch touchscreen display with a resolution of 480 x 854 pixels. The iPhone 4 display clearly has the upper hand here despite being smaller.
Processing Hardware – It’s a tie
Both the Droid X and the iPhone 4 sport a 1 GHz processor and 512 MB of RAM which offer nearly the same performance.
Memory: Droid X wins
The iPhone 4 comes in 16 GB and 32 GB versions while the Droid X comes only in a 8 GB version with a 16 GB micro SD card (with support for upto 32 GB cards).
OS (iOS 4 vs Android): Undecided
The iPhone 4 comes with the new iOS 4 while the Droid X comes bundled with Android 2.1 Eclair but will get an upgrade to Android 2.2 Froyo. They are the two best mobile operating systems. The iOS platform has more applications – 2,20,000 while the Android platform has around 65,000. Android 2.2 was clearly better than iOS 3.1.3 but the verdict on iOS4 vs Android 2.2 isn’t out yet. Android 2.2 will support Flash, can be used as a Mobile Hotspot and also comes with the Swype text input system. iOS 4 now comes with Multitasking, which takes away Android’s major advantage over it.
Camera: iPhone 4 wins
The iPhone 4 has a 5 MP camera with an LED flash while the Droid X comes with an 8 MP camera with a dual LED flash. Both of them can record 720p video at 30 FPS. Both of them capture excellent images. Despite the obvious megapixel difference, the iPhone 4 has a larger image sensor which results in better pictures. It also has a front facing camera which can be used for video calls (Facetime) which tips the scales in the iPhone 4′s favor.
Connectivity Options: Droid X wins
Both of them support the usual connectivity options – GPRS, EDGE, 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS etc and support tethering.
However, in the US, the iPhone 4 is still tied exclusively to the AT&T network while the Droid X will be available on the far better Verizon network. Also, the Droid X can be used as a Wi-Fi mobile Hotspot.

I have no idea what’s there in iPhone which demands a $1K price tag. Still find it primitive in front of Symbian’s/Maemo’s capabilities.

I technically can’t delay for this phone, only 2 days remaining and I just wish I can get my hands on one,. I have been recently reading a lot about the Android 2.2 update that can come in August, simply one more reason to be excited about this great phone. Motorola and Verizon wireless claim they will update the phone to Android 2.2 “late summer.” It will certainly be an over-the-air update. However out-of-the box on its July 15 launch it will have Android 2.1.

I have been feeling a little heat this a . m . from a few people not looking to believe that the Droid X inventory will become limited on release day, as we noted before. Well we have only got 5 additional screenshots from 5 fairly main markets as well as I would point out again in which stock appears to end up being quite limited to me. Some of the main retailers have upwards of sixty units, but some might only have 5 devices. Now probably these numbers are over common for a Verizon launch, however for a gadget this large, I guess I simply thought retailers might have tried to have already been overstocked.

It’s amazing how badly iPhone 4 sucks. Apple Fanboys will defend it until the end of time however. I will freely note first off that I have the 3GS, and I bought the 4. I returned it and went back to my current 3GS. It was that bad. It’s hilarious to me what Apple fanboys are saying in forums and blogs all across the web, defending this thing like it’s some sacred gem, pretending all its issues don’t even exist. Ridiculous. Check out the video I made on YouTube about “An Apple Fanboy’s take on Life…”. It’s at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KPcQ-cYg8iA

The Motorola DROID continues to present new possibilities regular. I’ve had it for about 10 months and We’ve had a Blackberry attached to my system because September 1998. Being connected is a essential component of my existence so I’m often reachable by household and co-workers. I’m a bit addicted to the Industry for DROID Applications. When the device had unlimited memory I would check the capacity. I think this OS is the way with the future and intend to grow with all of you to know it by means of and as a result of. Thanks to the write-up.

Whilst I really like a physical keyboard, after managing the Samsung Captivate for approximately 15 minutes, it’s laborious to move back. Right now I am debating whether to visit Verizon for the Droid X, pass to Dash for the EVO, or stick with AT&T for the Captivate…selections, decisions.

My wife and i felt quite lucky Chris managed to carry out his survey with the precious recommendations he had when using the weblog. It’s not at all simplistic to simply choose to be offering thoughts which most people could have been making money from. So we consider we have the writer to be grateful to for this. All the illustrations you have made, the easy website navigation, the relationships you will make it possible to engender – it’s all overwhelming, and it’s really leading our son and us consider that that situation is amusing, which is certainly especially fundamental. Thank you for everything!

With almost everything that seems to be building inside this area, many of your perspectives happen to be very refreshing. Having said that, I beg your pardon, but I do not give credence to your entire idea, all be it refreshing none the less. It would seem to us that your comments are actually not entirely validated and in reality you are generally your self not fully convinced of your assertion. In any event I did appreciate reading through it.
