This is a tutorial to try Android as a Live option. To install Android on your EEE PC or netbook – How to Install Android OS on EEE PC
Android is a free operating system for mobile phones developed by Google. I’ve always been a huge fan of it; most probably my next phone is going to be an Android. It is mostly run on smartphons powered by ARM chips, though it is being ported to various platforms and architectures, including X86.
LiveAndroid is a Live CD for Android running on X86 platforms. You can use it to run Android directly on your PC.
To Install Android on your PC,
Just download LiveAndroid
Live Android – Part 1
Live Android – Part 2
After downloading these files, just join them using HJSplit.
You can also download it via the LiveAndroid torrent.
Next, burn the ISO (disk image) to a CD using any CD burning application like Nero, Magic ISO, Power ISO etc.
You can also use W32DiskImager to copy the image to a USB drive.
After this step, just reboot your computer and boot from the CD or USB drive. You should be greeted by the LiveAndroid startup screen.
Alternatively, you can also load the ISO in any virtualization application like Microsoft Virtual PC or Virtual Box.

The hosting servers suck big time & the Chinese who’s distributing this is also weird. There were 3 60MB files initially, after several re-downloads I was able to get 2 parts, by the time I started the third, he updated it & now there are 2 90MB files which again aren’t downloading.
the second ones always stops at 84.9MB. #FAIL!

LOL, yea.. Try the torrent. The servers died on me too twice.

Thanks. I kind of agree with jomom apart from all the profanities.
Is there like a way to install it as a conventional operating system, or am I talking out of my rear end?

Nope. AFAIK there is no other way except this to try out Android on your PC.

I had a sudden idea;
If I could mount my hard-drives, I could copy the root filesystem of android.
So, I booted it in virtualbox, and attempted to mount up the hard-drives, but it seems that liveandroid is truly live, it doesn’t have any ATA controller drivers compiled in!
Damn. I’ll have to try and compile my own Android, it seems to be the only way.

Why is there a separate how to for PC/Laptops and Netbooks?

This tutorial is only for using Android directly from the USB stick, not to install it.
The other tutorial on the top is to install it on your EEE PC/netbook.

This article is a fraud, though truth be said, so are a lot of other articles claiming to teach the same stuff.
This has NOTHING to do with installing android. It is just booting a live CD. That’s it.
