Tutorial: How To Install Android 2.3 Gingerbread on Motorola Droid / Motorola Milestone
Update: Cyanogen Mod 7 is out now for the Motorola Droid. I would recommend using the CM7 Android 2.3 Gingerbread ROM for your Droid. Use the same method described below, but use the CM7 ROM.

For someone who doesn’t know,Milestone and Droid are the same smartphones.
Milestone is in Europe,Droid is in USA!

Milestone and Droid are NOT the same.
First thing is: Milestone is GSM, Droid is CDMA.
Milestone has a locked kernel and bootloader, so custom ROMS need some extra touch for it.
Cyanogen is not officialy supported for Milestone, so don’t fck things up…if u want some serious ROM for Milestone, try ShadowMod.

This totally worked, thank you. I almost expected it not to because of the comments though…
The thing is, my Droid has keys that protrude out from the keyboard, which differentiates my phone from any other Droid/Milestone that I’ve seen (even on Google images), so if your phone is the same way, it will totally work.
I kept all my pictures, but my contacts and apps were pretty much gone.
Also, my phone was flashed to MetroPCS before I reloaded from the ROM. To my disbelief, I actually retained that service on my phone. Additionally, wireless networks are working seemlessly.
In conclusion, this ROM is wicked fast, and I plan to use it primarily until the next release.
