Android 2.3 Gingerbread was released on December 6 and the Google Nexus S is the first phone to officially run the new OS. The Android 2.3 Gingerbread update should be rolled out to all new phones soon, and the Samsung Galaxy S will probably get it sooner than most other phones, as it almost has the same hardware specifications as the Nexus S, barring a few changes like the NFC chip.
Even before Samsung officially rolls out an update to the Samsung Galaxy S for Android 2.3, the modder community should surely give us an Android 2.3 Gingerbread port for the Galaxy S. In fact, they have already started working on it.
As soon as an Android 2.3 upgrade or port for the Samsung Galaxy S becomes available, I will update this post with the complete details on how to install it on your phone.
Until then, Install Android 2.2 Froyo on your Samsung Galaxy S.

I find the KIES software painfully slow. The Samsung Galaxy 3 is high on battery consumption and runs out in 24 hrs instead of 4-5 days on standby. The battery meter shows 80%+ is consumed by Andoid software. So how is it Samsung makes a claim of standby time of 4-5 days. Will Android 2.2 or 2.3 be any better? The response time while using phone is much longer than in a typical button-type dial.

Thanks for the tutorial! As I understand the files in “download” section are specific for Samsung Galaxy S (aka I9000), but I have Samsung Vibrant (aka SGH-t959).
Where can I find these files specific for Samsung Vibrant (firmware 2.3 for SGH-t959)? Thanks in advance!
(Previously I have tried to upgrade to 2.2 using tutorial for I9000, but it didn’t turn out good))

Great article. It is unfortunate that over the last ten years, the travel industry has already been able to to take on terrorism, SARS, tsunamis, bird flu, swine flu, as well as first ever real global economic collapse. Through everything the industry has really proven to be strong, resilient in addition to dynamic, obtaining new strategies to deal with misfortune. There are generally fresh challenges and the opportunity to which the sector must once more adapt and reply.
