How to Update Facebook Fan Pages with RSS Feed Updates

This tutorial will explain how you can Update your Facebook Pages using an RSS feed. This will allow you to Update the Wall of your Facebook Pages using an RSS Feed. I have used it to publish my blog’s RSS feed (PathikShah.Com RSS) directly on my Facebook Fan Page (PathikShah.Com Facebook Page).

Log in to your Facebook Account using your email id / password.

Create the Facebook Page by going to http://www.facebook.com/pages if you haven’t already.

Access the RSS Graffiti application by going to http://apps.facebook.com/rssgraffiti/

Allow the RSS Graffiti application access your profile and grant it all the required permissions to allow constant authorization, publishing etc.

Click on the Fan Page listed on the left tab of the RSS Graffiti application and add the application to it and allow publishing permissions.

Now you can just directly add whatever RSS feeds you want to the RSS Graffiti application on your Facebook Page and all the RSS updates will be published to its Wall.

To add an RSS feed, just add the URL of the feed and keep the default options. Click on Save when you are done. The wall should be updated in some time with the latest feeds. You can add as many RSS feeds as you want.

This tutorial will show you how you can increase your SSD’s speed and life.

Solid State Drives (SSD) offer much faster read speeds than standard hard drives, allow much faster random access and also lower the startup time. They are also shock resistant and consume much less power than hard disks.

However, they have a limited number of read / write cycles which can lead to them wearing out quickly if not used properly. You can easily tweak your SSD to offer better performance and to improve its lifespan.

To minimize the no of writes, you can disable the Windows Page File, Windows Prefetcher, Disk Defragmenter etc. You can use SSD Tweaker to tweak all those settings from a single interface.

Just download it, run the SSD Tweaker tool and click on Auto Tweak Settings or manually disable all the options listed. This should increase both the performance and the life of your SSD.

Download SSD Tweaker

Most ebooks are available only in the PDF format. However most new ebook readers as well as Apple’s iBooks application for the iPad support the EPUB open ebook standard.

This tutorial will explain how you can convert your PDF files to the EPUB (iPhone, iPad) format.

To convert PDF to EPUB, you can use a free application called Calibre. Just download Calibre from here - Calibre Download and install it.

Calibre is an ebook management tool used to manage your book collection and to convert it to your device’s supported formats. It supports many devices like the Kindle, iPad, Nook etc.

Select the device you have, in this case, Apple > iPhone/iTouch.

At the main interface, click on Add Books and browse to the PDF you want to convert.

Right click on the PDF book in the Calibre interface and click on Convert eBooks > Convert Individually. Add any meta information if you want to.

The EPUB will be saved in the Calibre Library folder you specified earlier. Just transfer the EPUB book to your iPhone / iPad using iTunes.

How to Delete your Facebook Account

If you are worried about Facebook screwing around with your privacy, here’s how you can deactivate or delete your Facebook account. It’s actually very simple but since most Facebook users still can’t find it, I am posting a tutorial.

How to Deactivate your Facebook Account?

Just log in to your Facebook Account and go to Account > Account Settings.

Click on the Deactivate Account button or go directly to http://www.facebook.com/deactivate.php

In its desperate bid to keep you on Facebook and make you keep playing retarded games like Farmville, Facebook will list some of your friends who will miss you alongwith their tagged pics. Don’t fall for that. It’s a trap! Your friends probably don’t even know you are on Facebook. In any case, you can also maintain contact with them through other channels if they are your friends IRL. Just select any reason and click on Deactivate My Account.

Deactivating your account will still not delete your private data from Facebook. Facebook keeps it in case you change your mind and want to reactivate your account. To purge all your data from Facebook’s servers, you have to delete your account.

How to Delete your Facebook Account Permanently?

To delete your Facebook account, just go to this link – Facebook Help Center – Delete Account

And click on the Submit button. Your account will be permanently deleted alongwith your data in 14 days.

Often, when you set up a new website or when you change the host nameservers, the DNS records take about 24-48 hours to propagate across the world. This simple service can tell you if your website address is accessible worldwide or not. It pings your website from many different countries and reports back with the ping results.

Check it out at http://just-ping.com

Just enter your site URL and click Ping! . You can also ping IP addresses if you want.
