How to Install MeeGo on PC / Netbook / Laptop

Intel and Nokia had merged the Moblin and Maemo projects a while back to form MeeGo. It’s a new mobile OS which will work on both smartphones (ARM) and netbooks (X86 – Atom).

If you have a PC, laptop or netbook powered by the Intel Atom processor, you can install MeeGo on it.

How to Install MeeGo on your Netbook / PC / Laptop

1. First of all, download the MeeGo image on your PC. Download any one of these two MeeGo images.

Download Win32 Image Writer

2. Run the Win32 Disk Imager and select the MeeGo disk image you downloaded.

Also insert a USB drive in your PC, and select the USB drive in W32 Disk Imager. Write the MeeGo image to the USB drive.

3. Insert the USB drive into your netbook or laptop (Atom only) and boot from the USB drive.

4. You should see a Welcome to MeeGo screen.

Select Boot MeeGo if you want to try out the MeeGo OS before installing it.

You should see a MeeGo MyZone screen. You can now run MeeGo on your netbook or PC.

Select Installation Only if you want to install MeeGo on your PC, netbook or laptop.

Click next, select the language, select the partition you want to install MeeGo in, and select the Write Changes to Disk option next.

MeeGo should now be installed on your PC or netbook. You can now proceed with the initial setup.

You can install Android 2.3 Gingerbread ROMs on your HTC EVO 4G using ROM Manager

1. Go to Android Market and download ROM Manager. Make sure you have root access.

2. Launch ROM Manager and select Flash Clockwork Mod Recovery to install the recovery image. Also take a backup of your current ROM

3. Download the Android 2.3 Gingerbread ROM for HTC EVO 4G – v0.8

4. Copy the ROM to your phone’s internal SD card, and go to ROM Manager and Install ROM from SD card. Select the ROM you want to install and you are done.

Update: Cyanogen Mod 7 is out now for the Motorola Droid. I would recommend using the CM7 Android 2.3 Gingerbread ROM for your Droid. Use the same method described below, but use the CM7 ROM.

Steps to Upgrade Motorola Droid to Android 2.3 Gingerbread

1. Go to Android Market and download ROM Manager.

2. Launch ROM Manager and select Flash Clockwork Mod Recovery to install the recovery image. Also backup your current ROM if you want.

3. Download the Android 2.3 Gingerbread ROM for Motorola Droid

4. Extract the Android 2.3 ZIP and copy it to SDcard > ClockworkMod > backup

5. in ROM Manager, go to Manage and Restore Backups and restore the new backup that you copied.

Your Motorola Droid should now be running Android 2.3 Gingerbread

Steps to Install Android 2.3 on HTC Incredible

1. Make sure you have ROOT access on your HTC Droid Incredible.

2. Go to Android Market and download ROM Manager. This will allow you to flash ROMs directly from your phone.

3. Launch ROM Manager and select Flash Clockwork Mod Recovery to install the recovery image. Also Backup your current ROM if you want.

4. Download Android 2.3 Gingerbread ROM for HTC Droid Incredible

5. Copy the ROM to your phone’s SD card, and go to ROM Manager and Install ROM from SD card. Select the ROM you want to install and in a few minutes, your Droid Incredible will be running Android 2.3.

How to Install and Remove/Delete/Uninstall Apps and Games in Windows Phone 7

Unlike the earlier versions of Windows Mobile where installing an application or game was very time-consuming, Windows Phone 7 offers access to the Windows Phone 7 Marketplace hub which is very similar to the iPhone App Store and the Android Market. You can now install and remove apps and games on your Windows Phone 7 device very easily.

Install Apps and Games on Windows Phone 7

Just click on the Start button and tap on the Marketplace. Press the Search button and type the name of the app or game you want to install.

You can also click on Apps or Games in Marketplace and browse through various categories of apps and games and select the one you want.

If it’s a paid app or game, just click on Buy and enter your credit card details or your mobile phone account details to buy the app.

After the installation is complete, the app will show up in the App list.

Remove / Uninstall / Delete Apps and Games in Windows Phone 7

Just click on Start and browse to the Apps or Games list.

Tap and hold the app or game you want to remove and select Uninstall / Delete.
