Micromax Andro A60 Review: First Look

Micromax has officially unveiled its new budget Android phone – the Micromax Andro A60, at the Micromax Bloggers Meet. It is priced at around Rs 8000 and seems to be a good budget option. The Micromax Andro A60 will probably be the cheapest Android phone in India.

Micromax Andro A60 Review

The Micromax Android A60 will sport a 2.8 inch resistive touchscreen display with a resolution of 240 x 320 pixels and will come with a 3.15 MP camera. It will be powered by a 600 MHz processor and comes with 150 MB internal memory and support for up to 32 GB microSD cards.

It will offer 3G connectivity as well as Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 2.1. It will run the Android 2.1 Eclair OS. It might get an upgrade to Android 2.2 Froyo some time in 2011. Except for the display, the Micromax Andro A60 seems to be a good phone.

But in the same price range, I would also check out the Spice Mi-300 which offers a much better display and a 5 MP camera.

Micromax is also planning to launch another Android phone with a 3.5 inch capacitive touchscreen display, Android 2.2 Froyo and better hardware. They are also working on an affordable 7 inch Android tablet.

If you can increase your budget, you may want to check out the Best Android Phones in India

Just log on to your Orkut Profile and get your Orkut User ID / UID. You can do that by right clicking on your Profile pic or name > Copy Link address / Copy Shortcut.

Just cut out the UID part of the that link, it is the 20 digit number at the end of your profile URL. – http://www.orkut.co.in/Main#Profile.aspx?uid=XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX. Copy that 20 digit number and append it to this string.

http://www.orkut.com/Scrapbook.aspx?uid= such that it becomes http://www.orkut.com/Scrapbook.aspx?uid=XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

You will get your Orkut Scrapbook Feed URL – http://www.orkutfeeds.com/feed.php?uid=XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX where the xxx.. is your UID.

Just login to Google using your Google account and go to: http://labs.google.co.in/smschannels/browse

You will need to register with your mobile number and verify it if you are a first time user.

Next, click on Create Your Own Channel.

Enter the Channel name, Description etc and in the source, select RSS / Atom Feed and enter your Orkut Scrapbook’s RSS feed URL.

This tutorial will show you how to access WAP (Wireless Application Protocol) sites on your PC. Sometimes you may want to access the mobile versions of your favorite sites on your PC, but some browsers don’t support WML (Wireless Markup Language) and wont be able to display the pages.

To open WAP sites on your PC, you can use online WAP emulators or use software to do so.

Emulators:

You can use various online WAP emulators which allow you to access WAP sites using a web interface.

Some of the most popular ones include:

1. dotMobi WAP Emulator – http://mtld.mobi/emulator.php

2. WAPTiger WAP Emulator – http://www.waptiger.com/waptiger/

3. TagTag WAP Emulator – http://tagtag.com/cgi/wapemulator.cgi

Softwares:

To access WAP sites using softwares, I would recommend:

1. Opera Web Browser

Opera, the best web browser on Earth, fully supports WAP sites and allows you to surf WML pages easily.

Get Opera here: Opera Download

2. WMLBROWSER Firefox Extension

To access WAP sites in Firefox, you can install the WMLBROWSER extension. Just install the extension, go to View > Toolbars > Customize and add the WML browser Toolbar button to your toolbar. You can switch to WML ON and WML OFF to enable and disable WAP sites.

Download WMLBROWSER here: WML Browser Firefox Addon

3. WINWAP

WinWAP is a standalone WAP browser that you can use to access WAP sites on PC. It emulates cellphones, you can actually use the cellphone keys to navigate through the mobile web. You can also use different phone skins. You can get the WINWAP browser here: WinWAP Browser Emulator
