Private Torrent Trackers:
A private tracker is a tracker which allows only registered users to download torrents. The registered users are required to maintain a certain upload-to-download ratio and are banned if the ratio is too low. This ensures that the users don’t just leech the files but also seed them after downloading it completely, which in turn ensures that you get very fast download speeds.

You can also try BTRACS.com to monitor when these trackers open up for new registrations.
Public Torrent Trackers:
Public Torrent Trackers are open for everyone and you don’t need to register or maintain a upload to download ratio to download stuff. You won’t get much speeds in Public Torrent Trackers, but it is worth a try, especially since getting invites to Private Trackers isn’t easy.

Only private tracker I am registered to is demonoid, which I got onto by chance when you were able to sign up, and now they are down for some weeks. I also have an account through pirate bay and have a half dozen or so of my own torrents up there which I have seeded, reseeded, and seeded again.
Seriously if anyone has any invites for any of these sites, or any others I would be really grateful.
Ah should probably also mention that I am mostly looking for older Italian horror films, so perhaps someone coming across this may have advice on good sites to find this sort of thing.
